MI + SPIA Lecture Series -- Sustainability on the Ground
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
The Metropolitan Institute (MI) and the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) welcomes Steve Nicholas, vice president, Institute for Sustainable Communities, who will address "Sustainability on the Ground."
Nicholas recently co-authored The Guide to Greening Cities, which he will discuss in his presentation. Rich in tools, insights and tricks of the trade, this is the first book written from the perspective of municipal leaders with successful on-the-ground experience working to advance green city goals.
In his current position, Nicholas oversees a broad portfolio of projects including the Sustainable Communities Leadership Academy and the Sustainable Communities Learning Network, a capacity building program that serves about 200 cities and regions across the country that are implementing sustainable communities planning grants from the federal government's Partnership for Sustainable Communities.
Prospective students are invited to come prior to the lecture -- from 6 to 6:30 p.m. -- to speak with faculty in the Virginia Tech Urban Affairs and Planning Program.
Light refreshments will be served.
