Through Feminist Eyes Speaker Series: "Tapping at the Margins"

The presentation will be a performance and analysis of women dancers through the lens of gender, race, and class.
Ann Kilkelly has been a Professor of Theatre and Cinema and Women and Gender Studies at Virginia Tech since 1992. A nationally recognized scholar of performance practice and community based performance, Ann is also a Jazz Tap performer and historian and a studio head in the Institute for Creativity, Technology, and the Arts. She is the author, with colleague Robert H. Leonard, of Performing Communities: An Inquiry Into Ensemble Theatre Deeply Rooted in Eight US Communities. Ann teaches Master classes locally and nationally, and has danced nationally in New York, Washington DC, and Atlanta in the Duke and Joyce Theaters in New York City, the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, and many others.
