Microsoft Campus Agreement Information Session
(Administration)
These sessions are designed for department heads and department financial managers. If you are not currently using this licensing program, find out more to see if it fits your needs.
There are limited opportunities to join the Campus Agreement license. Agreements are typically 3 years in length to lock-in pricing. Agreements will be renewed this summer, with any new departments added at that time for the coming three-year cycle.
Would Campus Agreement benefit my department?
Microsoft offers two primary licensing mechanisms to the university. Microsoft Campus Agreement covers all the machines in a department or college. It is a yearly rental program with the cost based on an annual, once per year FTE calculation and payment. It includes software upgrades (e.g. no additional cost to upgrade to Windows 7 when it is released) as well as several other additional benefits. Several colleges and vice-presidential areas and approximately 30 additional departments are currently covered under the Campus Agreement license, as are approximately 11,000 students. The best candidates for Campus Agreement are units that have more machines than qualifying employees. It covers both Windows machines and Macs.
The second licensing mechanism is Microsoft Select. In this classic licensing process, a department buys a perpetual license for a particular software title and version that can be used on one machine.
Another information session will be held at 10 am, March 5, in the Torgersen Hall Museum Room.
