Science, Technology, Innovation & Policy Leadership Series: Ralph Langner
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
Ralph Langner, principal of the Langner Group, will present the Science, Technology, Innovation, and Policy Leadership Series lecture entitled The Future of Critical Infrastructure Cyber Security.
Langner will discuss events such as Stuxnet, the 2015 power outage in parts of Ukraine, the Mirai IoT Botnet or the recent WannaCry ransomware campaign, which illustrate the potential national and international impacts of high-profile cyber attacks. In a world that is doing everything to increase the pervasiveness of digital technology this raises the question of what will come next, and how to prepare against next-level cyber attacks against critical infrastructure and defense systems.
Langner founded the German branch of The Langner Group in 1988 and has accumulated hands-on field experience in the cyber security issues of power plants, water treatment facilities, nuclear facilities, food and beverage plants, automotive factories, steel mills, and many more.
He received worldwide recognition for his swift and comprehensive analysis of the Stuxnet malware and is considered a leading global expert on cyber defense.
A reception will precede and follow the lecture which begins at 4:30 p.m.
