Workshop/The Art of the Brush: Chinese Calligraphy as a Contemplative and Healing Practice

Marlow Brooks will be visiting Virginia Tech from Naropa University, Boulder, CO to teach this workshop. She is an award winning calligrapher, painter, and Five Element acupuncturist and healer. The workshop coincides with the Contemplative Practices for the 21st Century University Conference to be held at the Inn at VT March 10 - 12. You can see Marlow's art at the exhibit "Ordinary Insight" at Perspective Gallery in March.
The workshop will include a short history of Chinese writing, instruction in handling the brush, writing characters and energy exercises to help us relax, focus, and delight in our work. Each participant will leave with their own unique creation on rice paper. For artists and non-artists. Beginners are welcome.
