Sin Fujiyama: One Man's Quest to Empower Honduras
(Special Event)

Shin Fujiyama, co-founder and CEO of Students Helping Honduras, is coming to Virginia Tech to speak to the Blacksburg community. Students Helping Honduras (SHH)is a nonprofit organization aiming to alleviate extreme poverty and violence in Honduras through education and youth empowerment.
In 2004, Shin Fujiyama went on a week-long service trip to Honduras. He was a 20-year-old college student who had no idea that trip would shape the next ten years of his life. Since then, Shin has been named a CNN hero and represented SHH as a global co-chair at the United Nations last year. His model for impacting the lives of Hondurans and college students alike is setting the example for ethical volunteering and sustainability worldwide.
Shin will be speaking on February 16 from 7 - 8 p.m. in the Haymarket Theater in Squires Student Center. This is a free event and open to anyone. All who are interested in global development, Latin America, or volunteering abroad are encouraged to come out and hear Shin speak about his experiences as a college student hoping to make a difference in the world...and succeeding.
