Virginia Tech Does Novelty Piano!

Students and faculty from Virginia Tech's piano area tackle pop compositions from the early 20th century, the era of 'Novelty Piano.'
After the Ragtime craze, classically-trained pianists itched to perform in the popular vein, yet still showcase their hard-earned classical piano skills: the result was Novelty Piano.
Fast, flashy, and fun, these pieces showcase our pianists' fingers and will get your toes tapping in no time! Included are hits like Felix Arndt's "Nola," Zez Confrey's "Dizzy Fingers," and "Kitten on the Keys." Also featured will be standards by George Gershwin and others of the pre-jazz pop scene.
