Omeka for Developers: Extending and Hacking the World's Most Popular Scholarly Digital Archive and Exhibit System

Omeka allows a great deal of customization to handle many needs, both large and small. In this workshop, we'll look at the fundamentals of understanding how to make Omeka do what you need it to do. Specifically, we will look at 1) how to build a plugin and why you might want to, 2) Omeka theming hacks and development, and 3) how to use the Omeka API to remix data outside an Omeka site. The workshop will also include some hands-on time to look directly at how to write solutions for things that you want to build. There is an extended hands-on Omeka Playdate session later in the day.
