Dane Webster is an associate professor in the School of Visual Arts (SOVA) and director of the MFA in Creative Technologies at Virginia Tech. He teaches various courses in 3D computer animation and creative coding. Dane is also a senior fellow with the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT.)

Dane is passionate about creating worlds and building experiments that unfold within virtual spaces. His experimental short films and installations investigate creation myths, evolution, and the simple reactive qualities of a virtual biological form, while his still images are influenced by the microscopic realm. He enjoys building worlds within computers, exploring the use of virtual physics, light, and sound.

Meet the Makers is a new initiative of the University Libraries to bring art into the libraries and showcase artists and creators from across campus. This unique setup allows artists and creators to talk about and present their work, and gives visitors a chance to ask questions and get to know artists in their community.
