The Virginia Tech Office of Emergency Management,the National Weather Service Office located at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, and the Inn at Virginia Tech are sponsoring a National Weather Service Basic Skywarn Spotter Class to be held in the Alumni Assembly Hall at the Inn at Virginia Tech on Thursday March 17, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The class is free and open to the public.

A meteorologist from the National Weather Service will be present to discuss how volunteer Skywarn Spotters can help the National Weather Service provide timely and accurate warnings to the public when severe weather threatens our area. Characteristics of severe thunderstorms, storm safety tips, and reporting criteria/procedures are among the topics that will be covered.
