Meet the Makers: Eric Standley
(Arts)
Join Eric Standley, Associate Professor of Studio Art for the School of Visual Arts, as he discusses and digitally showcases his unique intricate paper wall sculptures. Standley's work draws inspiration from Islamic and Gothic art and architecture from the 12th century. He creates complex laser mosaics that have been shown all over the country as well as internationally.
Meet the Makers is a new initiative of the University Libraries to bring art into the libraries and showcase artists and creators from across campus. This unique setup allows artists and creators to talk about and present their work, and gives visitors a chance to ask questions and get to know artists in their community.
Eric Standley is an Associate Professor of Studio Art and the Foundations of Art and Design Coordinator for the School of Visual Arts. He is represented by the Marta Hewett gallery of Cincinnati, Victori + Mo Contemporary in New York City, and MediaForce of Tokyo, Japan. His work has recently been exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, the Mesa Museum of Contemporary Art, The Paper Art Fair in NYC, and at Aqua, Art Miami. His work is currently on display at the CODA Museum of the Netherlands through November 2015. Twenty-three of his works will be exhibited at the biennial Islamic Art Festival in Sharjah, UAE in 2016.
