(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)

Gareth Davies, lecturer in American History, University of Oxford, United Kingdom, will discuss "The Problem of Land Use Control in American Political Culture."

Davies has published on the social policies and political crisis of the United States during the 1960s; on the comparative development of social policy in Canada and the United States; and on the foundation of the New Deal welfare state.

Currently, Davies is writing a book about American education policy from 1965-1980, and is also working on the social welfare legacy of the Reagan administration.


This lecture is also available by polycom to Thomas Connor House on the Blacksburg campus.

Lunch will be provided at the Alexandria location.
