Improvisation for Scientists
(Seminar/Conference)
Prof. Patricia Raun
Director of the School of Performing Arts
Professor of Performance and Voice
Virginia Tech
Abstract
This introductory improvisation workshop is designed for graduate students in scientific or technological fields. The explorations introduced will increase your ability to communicate about your work in a variety of contexts. The exercises lessen the discomfort of spontaneous communication with individuals outside of your field. A greater awareness of the everyday tools of human interaction (voice and body) will be gained through improvisation exercises. You'll achieve a better understanding of the connections that are possible when you are more fully expressive about your work. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that allow a full range of motion
