DISIS Concert

As a part of ICAT Day, the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT), the School of Performing Arts, and Digital Interactive Sound and Intermedia Studio (DISIS) present their Spring Showcase, a part of the Digital iD performance series featuring an evening of multi-sensory performances that fit no pre-existing form or template. The event will feature computer music by Virginia Tech faculty and students, and performances by the Linux Laptop Orchestra (L2Ork). Multichannel works will be presented over the 128-speaker 3D surround sound system in the CUBE of the Moss Arts Center. Guest artists include computer music pioneer Mara Helmuth with a new piece for L2Ork, and cellist Seth Parker Woods, performing UK-based Michael Clarke's "Enmeshed 3" for cello and live electronics. Digital iD offers an exploration of synergies among music, technology, arts, gesture, collaboration, interactivity, and ultimately community.
