Diggs Roundtable
(Academic)
This year's Diggs Roundtable will take place on October 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the University Club. Each year the Diggs Teaching Scholars Association presents its Roundtable where this year's Diggs winners present the innovative projects that won recognition to the broader university community. Following the project presentations, discussion opens to explore the projects more deeply and how they may apply to other classroom and educational environments. Discussion of these projects will also serve as a springboard to broader discussions of the teaching mission at Virginia Tech, reimagining general education, and how to foster innovative teaching methods. At this year's Diggs Roundtable, we will hear about two innovative pedagogical approaches to launch our all-attendee conversation:
- Lori Blanc, Director of the Da Vinci Living Learning Community and Research Scientist in Biological Sciences, will present "Peer to Peer Projects: Bringing Academics to Life through a Community-based Culture of Innovative Learning."
- Donald J. Orth, Thomas H. Jones Professor, Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation, College of Natural Resources and Environment, will present "On Becoming: Digital Storytelling Pedagogy in Student Development."
All university members who are interested in the teaching mission at Virginia Tech generally, and innovative practices in particular, are invited to the Diggs Roundtable.
