Art Exhibit Medical Avatar: The Time Health Machine
(Arts)
Virginia Tech's Student Centers and Activities Perspective Gallery, in collaboration with Virginia Tech Carilion Medical School Creativity in Healing Program are pleased to present a multidisciplinary exhibition on the visualization of health data to influence patient physician interaction and behavior change.
Virgil Wong, a New York City-based artist and cognition technology researcher at Columbia University, creates digital portraits of people with chronic diseases in the Roanoke and Blacksburg area based on their own self-tracked symptom data. Using a mobile app developed Wong, Katie McCurdy and Medical Avatar LL, patients create personalized avatars and timelines to more effectively communicate complex medical histories to their doctors.
The exhibit includes mixed media paintings, prints, movies, and opportunities to use the app to input your own data and to interact with a program designed for medical students, residents and physicians.
