Science and Technology Leadership Series: Randall Murch
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
Randall Murch, research leader, National Capital Region Research and Development Team, and professor in practice, School of Public and International Affairs, will present, "Achieving 'Who Did It?' The Forensics and Attribution of Biological Weapons."
Murch will discuss the scientific, investigative, intelligence, legal, policy, and decision-making aspects of the biological weapons "work space," both from the present perspective as well as looking forward.
Murch created the U.S. national program for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear forensics in 1996 while employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Today, this enterprise involves many agencies of the U.S. government and its oversight reaches to the White House.
He is also one of the founders and coined the name of the field of microbial forensics. He has published and presented extensively in this field, including a presentation at the United Nations in Geneva.
A question and answer session will follow the presentation, which is sponsored by the National Capital Region and the National Capital Region Faculty Association.
