Speaker L. Lamar Wilson - Sponsored by the Dept. of English Literature and Language Emerging Scholar Series
(Special Event)

Mr. Wilson (PhD. candidate at UNC in African-American and Multi-Ethnic Poetics in the Americas) will deliver a speech entitled: "'He Is Beat': Ancestral (Re)Vision in Bob Kaufman's Quare Migration Narratives." The paper briefly mentions "Carl Chessman Interviews the P.T.A." as Wilson invokes E. Patrick Johnson's theorization of "the quare" to contextualize Kaufman's use of "queer" throughout his oeuvre. However, the bulk of the talk focuses on the quaring of the migration narrative in "Grandfather Was Queer, Too."
