Visiting Artist Lecture: Taro Narahara

Attention architecture, art, and design majors! The School of Visual Arts has invited Dr. Taro Narahara to visit Virginia Tech. Taro will be giving a free public lecture on his work in architecture as well as gaming and 3D modeling on April 1, 2014.
Taro Narahara is an assistant professor and licensed architect the School of Art + Design at New Jersey Institute of Technology where he teaches digital design studios and courses on gaming, physical computing, and architectural computing. Taro won the Peter Rice Prize, the Digital Design Prize, and an REAI Research Grant Award from Harvard University. Taro has widely lectured on four continents, primarily on computer-aided design, visualization of traffic and human behavior models using agent-based simulations, and generative design in architecture inspired by self-organization and emergence. His design and research work has been published in international journals and conferences such as IJAC. During this period, he was associated with firms such as Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Gluckman Mayner Architects and has collaborated on several award-winning projects including Mori Arts Center, Hotel Puerta de America in Madrid, and the MoMA Store in New York City.
