Open Call: Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology
(Academic)
The Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT), an integral part of the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech, is composed of a group of research and development studios designed to encourage faculty and students to collaborate toward the mission of the institute, which is to forge a pathway between transdisciplinary research and artistic output, scientific and commercial discovery, and educational innovation. The members of each of the studios within ICAT work toward a studio-specific output while establishing connections and pathways among the other studios. Each of the studios has developed a supportive network of faculty and students from departments across the university, public school districts, and community and corporate partners. The goal is to increase this network and build a stronger foundation and understanding of the ties between the arts, creativity, learning, and our environment. To accomplish this goal, the institute is seeking progressive, forward-thinking faculty interested in being part of a collaborative team to identify potential avenues to pursue with the anticipated outcome of developing programs within each of the studios that are accessible to all disciplines. The institute is hosting a series of informal meetings where those interested will be able to learn more about the institute and its studios, meet the studio heads, identify common interests, and brainstorm next steps. This session is hosted by the
