Regression using JMP
(Academic)
This hands-on short course will focus on Regression and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) using the JMP desktop statistical discovery software. This day-long short course will begin with simple linear regression. Participants will learn to use scatterplots, calculate correlation statistics, peform simple linear regression, and fit polynomial regression models. Significant time will also be spent on multiple regression. Topics in this area will include performing multiple regression, performing multiple regression with interactions, and performing stepwise regression. Regression diagnostics, such as examining model assumptions, discovering multivariate outliers, and investigating colinearity, will also be covered. This session will conclude with a consideration of Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) and how to fit ANCOVA models with and without interactions. While no knowledge of JMP is required prior to attending this session, it is recommended that those that sign up have some statistical training.
Please Note: beginning October 1, 2006, Virginia Tech entered into a five-year license agreement with SAS that makes JMP available for free to all faculty and students at our university. You can download it now from http://www.ita.vt.edu/Apps/WebObjects/SoftwareWeb.woa. More information...
