No matter what discipline we are in, sparking and maintaining student interest and engagement is no small task in our contemporary academic culture. How do we gently disrupt the continuous partial attention that has become the norm in many of our classrooms, labs, and lecture halls? This BSE seminar will explore ways to minimize attention-drift and increase active engagement in our classrooms and/or research presentations. Whether new or veteran teachers, we can all employ (our own version) of some very essential strategies and best practices for increasing student interest and engagement.
