Golub: The Late Works are the Catastrophes
(Movie/Film)
"Golub: The Late Works are the Catastrophes" will be screened at the Lyric Theatre Tuesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. Artist Leon Golub's work confronts issues of power and violence resulting from social unrest and political upheaval. The film explores the evolution of Golub's vision over time, the influence of his wife and studio partner on his work, and how audiences respond to his enormous canvasses.
Joining filmmaker Gordon Quinn for the panel discussion will be Dr. Bailey Van Hook (Art History), Dr. Paul Harrill (Film Studies), and Dr. Brian Britt (Religious Studies). Questions and discussion will range from the significance of Golub as an artist to the role of art in addressing social issues.
