Virginia Tech Academic Advising Survey: What Students Have to Say
(Seminar/Conference)
During the fall semester of 1998, the University appointed a task force to examine undergraduate advising as it relates to: (a) student/advisor needs and responsibilities, (b) methods and departmental structures for advising, (c) use of technology in advising, and (d) strategies for recognizing and rewarding advising. As a result of this examination, a number of recommendations were made and implemented to improve the quality of advising at Virginia Tech.
Continuing on in the spirit of providing the best academic advising to students possible, a survey was distributed to all undergraduate students at the university in fall 2007 in hopes of learning more about their advising experiences. This session will highlight the findings of the survey; provide an opportunity for the university community to discuss the implications, review methods of integrating the results into daily practice.
Presenters:
Susanna Rinehart, Assistant Provost and
